Ben Gallina, Teacher:
Double Bass & Electric Bass

I’ve been living in Washington Heights since August 2004, pursuing activities as a performer, composer, and teacher. I teach to all ages, will travel to students’ houses, or can hold lessons at a music studio in my apartment on Pinehurst Ave between 179th and 180th Streets.

My strengths as a teacher are based in the many aspects of my musicianship. As a classically-trained bassist I can identify the proper mechanics of bass playing and share my own experience of honing these skills. As a jazz-bassist I have a deep musicality, sense of harmony, and music-theory. And as an active performer I have a wide range of stylistic experience including orchestral, popular music, and the entire spectrum of jazz. All of this has given me a deep respect for the importance of music in our culture, and the joy and enrichment it brings.
